How can I describe Ft. Myers Beach? One word is all it takes: AWESOME! The island is beautiful year round, the people are very friendly, the beaches are clean and the water is gorgeous, and to top it off….it doesn’t take a lot of money to vacation here. A seven day vacation just isn’t long enough for me anymore, and I am looking forward to retirement (only 5 more years) when I can spend more time on the beach looking for sea shells and fishing.
In 2008 I will have visited the area three times for a total of 25 days, and already know that in 2009 I will be returning in late May to fish for tarpon and then again in July, November and December. There is no other place I would rather be…..I have taken two other vacations (Alaska and Florida Panhandle) and return home disappointed because FMB is paradise to me. I have learned my lesson, and will only vacation in this area which has become my second home.
What is there to do? Ft Myers Beach has it all…..fishing, shopping, restaurants, shelling, walking and watching the beautiful sunsets. I always start my vacation at the Waffle House or other restaurant on Estero Blvd for breakfast, grab a sandwich at Publix and head to the beach. In the evening I will visit various restaurants for a seafood dinner, watch the sunset, take a shark fishing cruise or walk around and shop at Times Square and people watch. The next morning I will start the cycle again.
When I start heading back to North Carolina, I am always sad when I cross the FMB bridge and head north. But I know I will be back and I start counting the days down. Right now……only 20 days to go until I return to Paradise! This will be my 15th visit to FMB in six years. See you soon!

I am with you 100%. I have been to Fort Myers Beach at least a dozen or so times. My brother lives down there. I want to retire there some day, but my husband is a hunter and fisherman and says there’s no good hunting down there! I don’t know when I’ll be able to retire as I am only 51 yrs. old right now. I hate winter more and more each year and currently live in a Philadelphia suburb. I always get depressed when I have to leave FMB and fly home, especially if it’s cold up north. We always rent the same house(s) on Gulf Drive right on the beach. The sunsets are awesome! I just keep dreaming of the day I can retire and enjoy life.

I completely understand! My husband and I visited FMB for our first time this past Spring for an anniversary getaway. We loved it so much that we’re taking our children there for summer vacation. Only 22 days til we’re there again. We loved the people, and the beach was beyond description. We especially loved the laid-back feeling of the town. We have decided that FMB is our retirement destination!
I can hardly wait to cross the bridge! FMB, here we come!

Many reasons to visit FMB…Pete’s Time Out, Yukatan Bar, Orpheous’, Blowfish Bar, Tiki Bar, Valeries, Jimmy Bs, S.O.B. oh yeah and the beach and the weather. My favorite though is boating the back waters under the bridge and docking at Matanzas!

My brother just bought a house in Fort Meyers Beach and my wife and I are going to be spending Thanksgiving with them as first time visitors. We have heard such good things about FMB and are really looking forward to seeing the beach, sunsets and sand for ourselves.

Fort Myers is paradise to myself & my family.Living in Toronto,Canada where snow & ice are a way of life for 5
months of the year, vacationing in such a clean & friendly &
sunny place is heaven like.We have been vacationing there for the past 10 years and will continue to do so because
it has everything you wpould ever need while vacationing.
The town council has kept it safe, clean and friendly to
visitors like us and that is hard to find these days.We
sure hope it remains that way because were looking into
retiring down there in 5 years or so.That speaks volumes
of just how fantastic a place Fort Myers Beach truly is.

I found FMB by accident. We drove our RV down in November on a wing & a prayer because I didn’t know what to expect. Well, we left the RV there. and in a few weeks we wikk be at the best beachfront RV campground for about 3 months goodbye Canadian winters!

A true paradise. My wife Michelle and I bought a beach home in Oct of 2008. I had relatives in the Naples area but when i saw FMB i knew i had found a great place to purchase a second home. This is my retirement dream. For now though, my wife and children (3 girls)can enjoy it several times a year as we get down there often. The beach & Times Square are the best but the temps and beautiful landscape make it ideal for both my family and I as we love outside activities. We have been all over Florida and FMB is a real treasure!!!
