Tarpon Bay Explorers, the concession to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, is happy to announce that they have resumed their fishing charter operations. The Explorers’ crew has not provided fishing charters since their reopening after Hurricane Ian. “Our entire
pontoon fleet was totalled from Ian,” mentioned Adam Sauerland, General Manager of Tarpon Bay Explorers. “We have two pontoons again out of the 5 we had pre-Ian. They are brand new boats, brand new motors. It took about 5 months to get them made, but we are happy to see them back in our slips,” elated Sauerland.

Tarpon Bay Explorers’ fishing charters stay within the 950 acres of Tarpon Bay. Fishing charters take a maximum of 6 people. Price varies depending on the number of people and length of time, but ranges from $275 to $325 for two hours and $75 for every additional hour.
Tackle, bait and licensing are all included. “Our charters are great for all groups ranging from couples to families,” said Sauerland. “We get the big three: trout, redfish and snook, along with various other back bay species of fish.” Along with the fish, Fishing Charters often come across great wildlife like dolphins and manatees as an added bonus. All of Tarpon Bay’s captains have a 6-pack U.S.C.G license. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made in person or over the phone by calling 239-472-8900.
